About Us
The mission of the African American Veterans Monument Inc. is to honor, recognize, preserve, and share the legacy of African American veterans who have served our nation with courage and distinction across all six branches of the United States Armed Forces, in times of war and peace. Through stewardship and preservation of the African American Veterans Monument, education, interpretation, and community engagement, we ensure their sacrifices, contributions, and achievements are remembered, understood, and passed on to future generations.
Vision
It is our vision to create an everlasting monument memorializing the contributions of African Americans who served and are currently serving in all six branches of the military. We strive to restore meaning, and understanding of the indispensable military service of African Americans, which has been omitted from U.S. mainstream narratives and has consequently fallen into obscurity.
